Starting with the seventh installation on Maui in 2003, Rising Sun is today the largest solar energy company in the state with offices on Maui, Big Island, Oahu and Kauai. For 17 years, Rising Sun has led the solar market in Hawai’i. Our company provides design, installation, financing and maintenance for solar energy systems of all sizes and types.

We are advocates for solar incentives and grid access. We help create industry best practices, increase public awareness through community involvement, and invest in workforce education. Our customers are always our first priority.

When we began over 12 years ago we installed the 7th Net Metered PV system on Maui, today over 10% of Hawaii’s power is currently generated by small-distributed solar systems. Rising Sun has been a leader in efforts to promote sustainability, encourage environmental stewardship, and illuminate the pathway to energy independence. Rising Sun has been chosen as Maui’s Best Green Business in 2009, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014.

We take pride in our trade and we are excited to be a part of Hawaii’s Clean Energy Goal to reach 70% renewable generation by 2045.

4. Energy Independence

Rising Sun is devoted to renewable energy and sustainability throughout the community, co-founding the Hawai‘i PV Coalition in 2003 we have worked tirelessly to maintain the NET Metering Law and allow more PV systems to interconnect to the grid. We continue to be at the table for the PUC proceedings related to regulation and legislation of Hawaii State Energy Policy.
