Rising Sun Solar & Electric (RSSE) is a Maui-based, locally owned solar electric company dedicated to improving the health of the environment by bringing clean, reliable and affordable renewable energy technology to homes and businesses throughout the community. In 2009, RSSE was voted "Best Green Business" by the readers of Maui Time Weekly, and in 2010, the company was awarded the prestigious U.S. Small Business Administration’s (SBA) Small Business Person of the Year for Maui County.

Since 1986, Rising Sun Electric has operated as a licensed electrical contractor (C-28184, formerly C-13046 and C-26823) in the State of Hawaii. In 2003, RSE expanded its business to include solar electric and formed Rising Sun Solar Electric. RSSE has since installed more PV systems than any contractor on Maui. Rising Sun has installed systems island-wide. We have completed installations for Hawaii Electric Light Company (HELCO) and Maui Electric Company’s (MECO) Sun Power for Schools program, and in 2004, RSSE was chosen by HELCO and the State of Hawaii to install a 495-module system at the Natural Energy Lab in Kona. Rising Sun also provides invaluable training opportunities to students enrolled in the sustainability curriculum and workforce development programs at University of Hawaii Maui College.

Rising Sun Solar & Electric (C-28184), a licensed electrical contractor, is committed to making "going solar" an easy, affordable and reliable process. In addition, RSSE uses the highest standards possible for all aspects of workmanship and system design.

Rising Sun Solar & Electric performs all phases of installation in-house, and utilizes a proprietary system of quality assurance, regularly sending its personnel to industry instructional events in order to remain current with any new developments in solar technology, equipment and/or installation techniques. RSSE is a registered North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) installer, SMA Sunny Pro Club Member and Sunpower Premier Dealer. Additionally, RSSE will warranty all system workmanship for a period of five years (residential) and 10 years (commercial).
